What to expect.

The Music Room provides weekly, 30 minute private lessons individualized to meet the needs and goals of each student. Lessons focus on developing piano technique and skills while learning music theory, ear training, sight reading, and music terminology.  This comprehensive approach to teaching provides students with a broad bank of musical knowledge!

Each lesson takes place in a relaxed, in-home environment and is structured to include a review of previous material, instruction time for new skill development, and activities or games that reinforce these skills. Lessons are designed to be fun, yet challenging to keep students motivated, engaged, and excited about learning.

What you need.

Because at-home practice is vital to mastering the skills introduced during lessons, access to a piano or keyboard at home is the first thing you’ll need. There are so many options out there when it comes to choosing the right instrument for your family and your budget so don’t be overwhelmed with the choices. If you don’t already have a piano in your home, we can talk about what options might be right for you!

So you have a piano, now you need the right music. There are a variety of music curriculums available for every skill level. Because each student is different, we’ll look at different instructional curriculum options and select the one that fits your child. For more advanced learners, an instructional curriculum will likely be accompanied by additional selections from classical repertoires. The curriculums used can easily be purchased from local music stores or found online at sites like Amazon and range in price from $10-$15 for everything you need.

What we provide.

The Music Room will provide additional materials, including a weekly piano log with notes and reminders from each lesson, a practice log to keep you on track at home, access to music technology and games, and materials for activities during lessons. The Music Room will also provide resource recommendations for continued learning, as well as consultation for all things piano.
